The Annual Conference for the Australian Association of Massage Therapists has just finished up in Cairns. Apart from being 10 degrees hotter than Brisbane there was another benefit to my attending- Rob Granter.
Rob has 23 years experience in Soft Tissue Therapy within the Australian Sports Medicine industry and has headed the Massage team for several Olympic and Commonwealth games teams. During those campaigns he worked with my Lecturer and Mentor Tony Scown.
Rob was a contributor to the textbook Clinical Sports Medicine by Dr. P. Brukner and Dr. K. Khan, which is now the book of choice for Physiotherapy Degrees around the country. He is co-founder of the Australasian College of Soft Tissue Therapy and is the only Soft Tissue Therapist on the editorial board of the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
I attended 2 lectures by Rob,” The 3 stages of Tendonitis” and “Lateral elbow pain”.
Having worked with Rob during my time with the Women’s Olympic Softball Team it was an honour to be his student and learn from him again in a different environment.
The similarities to Tony were outstanding and it was refreshing to hear the same language of the body being used 12 years after I graduated. My training is still relevant in today’s world and even has a bit more scientific research to back it up!
Thanks again Rob.
